This four-day Course will be conducted by experts from the Indian Film, Television & Advertising industry. They encapsulate a 360-degree view of professions related to Creative Writing; Acting and Filmmaking in three different modules. The filmmaking course is of three-hour duration.
To be held on 18th, 19th, 24th and 25th January 2020, the Course will benefit young adults keen on exploring filmmaking as career; amateurs and young professionals who may be interested in the any of the three areas. Exposure to veterans and experienced voices will serve to deepen the understanding of cinema.

Module 1: What is Cinema: A brief history and overall understanding of the art and craft of it
A combination of several art forms Cinema needs to be understood first in its entirety as an art form itself. The journey of Cinema since its arrival in 1895 has seen numerous techniques, styles, approaches to narrate a story. Before embarking upon this journey, howsoever short, the student must be aware of these aspects. This module delineates these aspects so as to lay down a resonating layer of understanding on the student's mind.
Module 2 : Screenplay: How to write shorts and feature films
The very basis, the foundation for any good film is the creation of a story - with all its layers, texts and sub-texts, characters and sub characters, situations and the pace and manner of their unfolding, the creation of drama. This entire process and much more than this is called Screenplay Writing. This session will effectively unfold the mind, the process, the intricacies and tools that are needed to write a good story.
Module 3 : Tools of a filmmaker
Using cameras, Sound and Editing to build sequences; How to use the tools of film making; This session will talk about the variety of methods and methodologies, the common techniques, the clichés, capturing the images with required depths, movements and spaces, the importance of ambience, dialogues and music. It will discuss how to piece together the shots and pace the film juxtaposing images against each other. How to combine the three to create a story to have the desired impact, forms the subject matter of this session.
Module 4 : From Mind to Screen
Getting a glimpse of how a director envisions a film, the process followed by a filmmaker to transform a story from his/her mind to the screen. How to direct short, documentary and feature films.
Module 5: Interactive Session on Acting
Meet Rahul Rawail, the veteran Film Director from Hindi Film industry, the maker who launched careers of stars like Sunny Deol, Aishwarya Rai, Kajol, Kumar Gaurav and Vijeta Pandit. He will share his insights and experience and will talk about acting and direction in cinema and how to prepare oneself for an acting assignment.
Module 6: Distribution and Funding
Understand the basics of Film Distribution, Film Festivals and Funding of a film and how these are as important for a film student as a Good Script.

The instructors from Barry John Acting Studio, the persons who trained actors like Shahrukh Khan, Manoj Vajpayee and many others will teach and conduct acting classes for new comers and actors lending them a feel of the film industry through structured training over a period of five days.

Day 1: Your Body, Your Self

Day 2: Voice & Communication

The evolution of media into a variety of forms has necessitated training in Creative Writing. Each media requires a certain style, skill and method of writing to create the desired impact. It is therefore essential to understand these skills and styles to update oneself in the world of creative writing
The Course will cover the following key disciplines:
Day 1: Writing for Web
The module includes writing crisp and catchy copies and stories for web magazines; websites - both niche and general; communicating effectively on social media, etc.
Day 2: Film Criticism
The module initiates participants into the art of specialized writing on Cinema, criteria for judging films, writing film reviews, with a focus on structure, style and format to create maximum impact.
Day 3: Screenplay Writing
The module takes the students into the world of writing screenplays for films - shorts and features, the terminology, tools, methods, styles, technicalities etc.
Day 4: Copy Writing for Advertisements
The module introduces you to different ways of writing catchy captions, saleable slogans and suitable subtext aimed at creating the desired impact to maximize sales of the product.
Day 5: Getting yourself published
The module explains ways of getting yourself published in a manner that is credible and visible across variety of media
