DAY 5 / MODULE 5

 

Faculty: Manoj Srivastava

Manoj Srivastava, Former CEO, Entertainment Society of Goa headed IFFI Goa between 2008-2012 for Government of Goa. He now heads Jagran Film Festival, the largest travelling film festival in the world, organized in 16 cities of India, over a period of 100 days.

 

His production company India Shoots has shot several successful films like ‘PSV Garuda Vega (Telugu) and recently ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’. He is currently working on two more feature films as Producer and as Director. He is a Founder Member of Extravagant India Film Festival-Paris and Indian Film Festival- Georgia. In the past he was a Deputy Director, Directorate of Film Festivals, Government of India and headed National Film Awards, Indian Panorama, Cultural Exchange Programmes. His book Wide Angle: History of Indian Cinema is a highly respected work on Cinema.

 

He has curated film programmes for International Film Festivals and prestigious organizations like the British Film Institute, Centre Georges Pompidou, Museum of Modern Art-Dubai and New York, Lincoln Centre etc. He has served on various International Film Juries and worked closely with Berlinale, Karlovy Vary, Fribourg, Sydney, Shanghai, Pusan Digital, Cairo, Johannesburg, Innsbruck and many other film festivals. His Documentary-Short film ‘Hum Panchhi Ek Daal Ke’ was screened in 22 international film festivals across the globe. 

Having served on international film festival juries, he was appointed an Observer at the Berlin Film Festival (Berlinale), European Film Market in the years 2012 and 2013. He has been awarded by Russian and Polish Governments and often quoted in media publications such as Motion Picture Association of America, Ernst and Young and several others. He has delivered lectures in several institutions such as IIT Delhi, IIM Ahmedabad, FTII Pune, CII Summits, FICCI Frames, ASSOCHAM Conferences, Amity University to name a few. He is a Founder-Member of many Indian Film Festivals outside India like Extravagant India Film Festival, Indian Film Festival, Berlin and a Consultant to several International Film Festivals.

 

Connected with over 10,000 film professionals worldwide, he is also a Film Producer and manages a library with over 1,000 titles. He is trying to bridge the gap between Content Creators and Film Festivals.

Faculty: Rahul Rawail

Rahul Rawail, son of eminent filmmaker H.S.Rawail, was born in Mumbai on 7th April, 1953. He is a graduate of St.Xaviers College, Mumbai.

 

Alongwith his college education, he worked as an Assistant Director, with Shri. Raj Kapoor, at the R.K.Studios, assisting him on MERA NAAM JOKER and BOBBY. At R.K.Studios, he also assisted Shri. Randhir Kapoor on KAL AAJ AUR KAL and DHARAM KARAM. 

 

After his stint as an assistant director, he branched out on his own and established himself as one of the most prominent filmmakers in the Indian Film Industry. He also produced some films, and was actively involved, along with his friends, Rishi Kapoor and Naresh Malhotra (of Prime Focus) in setting-up the first Digital Audio Studio in Mumbai.

 

Rahul Rawail has also been the director who has launched Kumar Gaurav, Vijeta Pandit, Sunny Deol, Amrita Singh, Paresh Rawal, Annu Kapoor, Kajol, Kamal Sadanah, Aishwariya Rai and John Abraham, having directed all their debut films.

 

He was the member of the Jury for the selection of INDIAN Film for the Oscars in 2015, and also on Jury duty, as chairman, for the selection of films at Panorama Of Indian Cinema at the IFFI 2017, and Chairman of Western Panel for the National Film Awards Currently, apart from conducting Master Classes, Panel Discussions, Guest Faculty etc., all over the country, he is writing a book ‘Raj Kapoor, through the eyes of his closest aide’.
